Grounded In Nature

Moss House, a provocative contemporary dwelling, offers panoramic 360-degree vistas of the surrounding landscape and beyond.

Vision

Drawing inspiration from the organic structure of Spanish Moss, abundant in the project site, the house cascades down the hillside in a chain like manner, echoing the growth pattern of its namesake. Its asymmetrical roof lines mirror the irregular topography, granting occupants an array of unique perspectives to immerse themselves in. Clad in corten weathering steel, the house boasts a protective surface layer that not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also minimizes the need for ongoing maintenance, ensuring longevity and durability.  Situated in Monterey, California, the planned development is defined by “A community on a small and intimate scale.  Room to Roam.  Art to inspire us.  Idyllic places to meditate…”
