Urban Density - Complexity

Tasked with the transformation of a single-family parcel into a vibrant urban oasis, we embarked on a mission to craft a four-story duplex nestled snugly amidst the existing cityscape. Our endeavor involved subdividing the property into three smaller lots, interconnected by shared access and utility easements, thereby maximizing the potential of the site.

Vision

The initial phase of our intervention saw the removal of a dilapidated garage and shed, along with the clearing of an overgrown rear yard, paving the way for the new development.Surrounded on all fronts by towering apartment complexes, our design ethos centered on safeguarding the privacy of the new occupants. This involved a meticulous analysis of the site's unique characteristics, encompassing considerations such as view corridors, access to natural light, and strategic placement of key living spaces within each unit to shield against external noise.

In addition to fostering privacy, our project served as a beacon of responsible urban development, harnessing the potential of infill construction to densify the city fabric. By converting single-family parcels into multi-family dwellings, we championed sustainable growth, ensuring that citizens remained integrated within city limits, thus mitigating the encroachment of urban sprawl.
